WPL2024: According to Mukund, the Gujarat Giants had found the speed bowler they were searching for in Kashvee Gautam

Fast-bowling all-rounder Kashvee Gautam, who was signed by Gujarat Giants for INR 2 crores, became the most expensive uncapped player in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 player auction. Former India player Abhinav Mukund thinks the team has a fast-bowler in her that they were searching for in the competition.

Mukund also finds Gujarat’s global presence to be noteworthy. “She might not have been as fast with the ball last year, but she’s been outstanding this year with the new ball.” The Gujarat Giants were searching for a new-ball bowler, and they have found one. Their international players are all excellent.

“They have Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner, Laura Wolvaardt, and Kathryn Bryce, among others. I think the young Indian players they selected don’t have a lot of experience, therefore Dayalan Hemalatha and Sneh Rana’s expertise would be really helpful,” he told JioCinema.

In the T20 series that India A played in Mumbai last year against England A, Kashvee was a part of the Indian ‘A’ team that won the ACC Emerging tournament in Hong Kong in June 2023. Kashvee received the Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy last month in recognition of her excellence as a junior domestic circuit women’s cricket player for the 2019–20 season.

Kashvee Gautam is a young man, and this season is not the only one we are considering. We have two seasons in front of us. We evaluate the athletes we choose throughout the course of two seasons. It’s an investment for the next seasons, even if she offers us dull performances. She is a bowler, batters, and a very excellent fielder who is considered for the Indian squad. That greatly enhances her skill set, according to Gujarat Giants’ coach and former India captain Mithali Raj.

In addition to Kashvee, former India men’s wicketkeeper-battler Saba Karim believes that Australia’s opener Phoebe Litchfield, who was just named the 2023 ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year, would also be watched closely.

“They are both young and will concentrate on keeping the top-order in check. This squad seems a little top-order heavy, in my opinion. I think the squad is a little out of balance. However, it’s possible that you’ll be able to observe that balance throughout the camps. The fast bowler Kathryn Bryce has been chosen. He said, “I think they were trying to bolster their tempo assault.

In 2023, Gujarat Giants placed last in the first WPL season. On February 25, the team will play the Mumbai Indians, the reigning champions, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to begin their WPL 2024 season.
