Jurgen Klinsmann, the South Korea coach, believes that Lee Kang-In must remain modest and focused

As the Paris Saint-Germain playmaker continues to emerge as the nation’s next great hope, South Korea coach Jurgen Klinsmann has urged Lee Kang-in to remain grounded.

After helping his nation retain the gold medal at the Asian Games in China, Lee, 22, received a standing ovation when he scored twice for the Koreans in a 4-0 friendly victory against Tunisia on Friday in Seoul.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-237140″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-frustrated-sam-curran-shoos-the-cameraman-away-after-rahmatullah-gurbaz-strikes-hi.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com frustrated sam curran shoos the cameraman away after rahmatullah gurbaz strikes hi” width=”1414″ height=”792″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-frustrated-sam-curran-shoos-the-cameraman-away-after-rahmatullah-gurbaz-strikes-hi.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-frustrated-sam-curran-shoos-the-cameraman-away-after-rahmatullah-gurbaz-strikes-hi-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1414px) 100vw, 1414px” title=”Jurgen Klinsmann, the South Korea coach, believes that Lee Kang-In must remain modest and focused 9″>

Working with him is “just a joy” since Klinsmann is “always in a good mood, always smiling, but he’s also hungry,” the coach remarked.

“He needs to be like this. Kang-in finds it difficult to maintain his hunger since he is treated like a pop star here, which is bad because a pop star doesn’t score goals.

“He has to be modest. He must remain concentrated. He must exert himself and struggle.

Since arriving to Spain as a kid to join Valencia’s academy, Lee has been regarded as one of the nation’s most promising talents. He played 62 times for the La Liga team before transferring to Real Mallorca in 2021.

He played four times for Korea in the World Cup finals last year, three of those occasions as a substitute, and in the summer he signed for Paris Saint-Germain in a deal of 22 million euros.

Lee was a vital contributor to South Korea’s Asian Games gold medal triumph earlier this month, and importantly for the advancement of his career in Europe, that triumph has allowed him to avoid serving his nation’s conscription.

There will always be, in Klinsmann’s words, “I don’t know how many people screaming for him,” whenever he returns to Korea.

“It’s a sign of a really outstanding talent when a team like Paris Saint-Germain signs a guy from Korea. Kang-in has tremendous skill.

He will now begin to learn from elite players in Paris about what it’s like to play in the Champions League and about the pressure of competing for trophies.
